Lois Lerner, the former head of the IRS unit accused of targeting Tea Party groups for additional scrutiny when they applied for 501(4)(c) tax exempt status has retired. Lerner has been on administrative leave since May. Since that time, we have seen other changes at the IRS.
In May, Stephen T. Miller, the acting Commissioner of Internal Revenue retired. He was replaced by Daniel Werfel.
Now that Lerner has retired, it doesn’t mean the investigation into the IRS Non-profit unit is over. Fox News quotes Orrin Hatch and others who state that the investigation will continue.
